You Know How to Wash a Car.
But Do You Know How to Wash One Right?
The buckets are coming out, the hoses are getting connected, and the boys are getting ready to work. Our TRUE-MEN Car Wash & Community Service experience is officially scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026 — a hands-on day where the boys learn a basic skill every young man should know: how to properly wash and care for a vehicle.
But — as usual — the car wash is only part of the lesson.
🚗🧽 IT'S HAPPENING — SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2026 🪣💦
We have a date. We have a sponsor. We have a plan. Now we need the boys, dads, and volunteers.
Less Watching. More Doing.
The philosophy behind this TRUE-MEN experience is simple: Boys remember what they DO.
They can watch hundreds of videos explaining how to wash a car, but there is something very different about handing them a bucket, putting a hose in their hands, showing them the correct process, and saying:
"All right. Now you do it."
That is what this experience is about. The boys will learn the proper process, work together, make mistakes, correct them, and experience the satisfaction of looking back at a job they completed themselves.
It's More Than Soap + Water
This lesson covers the fundamentals of properly washing a vehicle — proper setup, wheels and tires, proper tools and products, safe washing techniques, working from the top of the painted body downward, proper rinsing, proper drying, final inspection, cleaning up the work area, taking care of equipment, and taking pride in finishing the job correctly.
1. Preparing the Work Area
Gathering supplies, preparing buckets, choosing the right soap, and keeping dirty tools away from painted surfaces.
2. Wheels & Tires First
Proper brushes, tire cleaning, wheel cleaning, and why wheel tools never touch painted surfaces.
3. Properly Washing the Body
Rinse loose dirt, work top to bottom, section by section, frequently rinse the mitt, and prevent soap from drying.
4. Proper Drying
Why air-drying leaves spots, using proper drying towels, and working systematically around the vehicle.
5. The Final Walkaround
A job isn't finished when you're tired. Walk the entire vehicle and check for missed spots, water spots, and supplies put away.
🧡 A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE HOME DEPOT

We are incredibly grateful to The Home Depot for stepping up and helping provide the supplies and materials our boys will need for this hands-on experience.
Buckets, soaps, towels, brushes, wash supplies and other materials can add up quickly when you are trying to put eight boys to work at the same time. Home Depot stepped up to help make it happen.
And a very special thank-you goes to Argeo Tamayo, Director of Stores in Broward County, who came through for us once again — just like he always does.
Argeo has been a longtime friend and supporter, and when we reached out to explain what we were trying to accomplish with these boys, he helped get the wheels in motion.
Pun absolutely intended. 🚗😂
This is exactly the kind of community support that helps TRUE-MEN turn ideas into real experiences for these boys.
Somebody Has to Sacrifice a Car.
Before we turn them loose on anybody important, a couple of dads are volunteering their cars for science. 😂
The boys will first learn the process by washing the participating fathers' vehicles. The car becomes the classroom. The instructor or volunteers will demonstrate the proper techniques and then have the boys perform the work themselves.
The goal is not speed. The goal is learning how to do it correctly.
Dad gets a clean car. The boys get a life lesson. Everybody wins.
The boys will practice until they understand their roles and can operate together as a team. And unless somebody drops the wash mitt in the dirt and immediately puts it back on the paint — then we have another lesson.

Then the Real Teamwork Begins
Once the boys understand the process, we create an assembly-line-style setup: Rinse → Wheels & Tires → Wash → Final Rinse → Dry → Inspection. Boys rotate through stations so they learn every part.
Station 1 — Initial Rinse
Prepare the vehicle and remove loose dirt.
Station 2 — Wheels & Tires
Properly clean wheels and tires using dedicated equipment.
Station 3 — Wash
Wash the vehicle body correctly and safely.
Station 4 — Final Rinse
Remove all soap and residue.
Station 5 — Drying
Properly dry the vehicle.
Station 6 — Final Inspection
Check the completed vehicle before declaring the job finished.
Everyone has a job. Everyone is responsible for his station. Everyone helps the team finish the vehicle properly.
This is where a simple car wash becomes a lesson in responsibility, communication, teamwork, attention to detail, hard work, following instructions, and finishing what you start.
🚔 THEN WE WASH FOR SOMEONE ELSE
Learning how to properly wash a car is useful. Using that new skill to do something for someone else is where the bigger lesson begins.
Once the boys have practiced and their assembly line is running, members of our local police department will come by with whatever vehicles they are able to make available.
Then it is the boys' turn to go to work.
The same skills they just learned will now be used to say THANK YOU.
This isn't about washing police cars because they happen to be dirty. It's about teaching our boys something much bigger:
Respect the people who serve your community.
We want the boys to meet the officers. Look them in the eye. Introduce themselves. Shake their hands. Say thank you. Work hard for them. And understand that showing respect is not simply something we talk about — it is something we demonstrate through our actions.
The Car Wash Gets Their Attention. The Lessons Matter.
TRUE-MEN uses ordinary real-world activities to teach lessons that extend far beyond the activity itself.
Responsibility
Take care of the things entrusted to you.
Preparation
Have the right tools and know what you are doing before you start.
Work Ethic
Sometimes the answer is simply roll up your sleeves and get to work.
Teamwork
Your job matters because somebody else is depending on you.
Attention to Detail
Doing something and doing something properly are two different things.
Pride
There is satisfaction in stepping back and seeing a job completed correctly.
Service
Not everything you do needs to benefit you.
Respect
Show appreciation for the men and women who protect and serve your community.
We aren't raising professional car washers. We're helping raise capable young men.
LET'S GET THE WHEELS IN MOTION 🚗💦
Saturday, October 17 is coming.
If your son wants to participate, now is the time to let us know. If you are a dad who wants to participate alongside your son, even better. If you know how to properly wash a vehicle and would enjoy helping teach or supervise a station, we need you.
And if you simply believe boys need more opportunities to get outside, work with their hands, learn from good men, serve their community and take pride in accomplishing something real… come be part of it.
Dads, Don't Just Drop Them Off
TRUE-MEN works best when knowledgeable men are willing to give some time and pass along what they know.
Nobody needs to own a detailing company. Nobody needs to be an automotive expert. A dad who knows how to properly wash a car, can work patiently with boys, and is willing to participate can make a meaningful contribution.
Want Your Son to Get His Hands Dirty?
The boys are expected to participate — not stand around watching. They may get wet. Their clothes may get dirty. They may smell like car soap afterward. That means things are probably going according to plan.

Real Skills. Real Work. Real Lessons.
The goal is to expose boys to practical skills, meaningful experiences, positive male role models, responsibility, hard work, service, confidence, and lessons that help prepare them for adulthood. The individual activity may change. The mission does not.

The supplies are coming. The dads' cars are going to get cleaner than they expected. The boys are going to learn. The police cars are coming.
And somewhere between the buckets, hoses, soap, towels and teamwork, we hope these boys walk away understanding something bigger than how to clean a car.
Learn it.
Do it.
Do it right.
Use it to help somebody else.
Take pride in the result.
That's TRUE-MEN.
Register your son. Volunteer to help. Invite another dad. Let's get the wheels in motion.
